Cutting grocery costs with an easy switch to Walmart brands

This post is sponsored by Walmart

It's been a rough year for a lot of families including us. My husband is an owner operator truck driver and when gas prices went up our household income went way down. Also, with the rising costs of food and basic necessities, we knew our family had to make some changes when it came to our budget. Finding ways to save on groceries was made easy with a small change to Walmart Brands. Walmart brands like Great Value, Marketside, Sam’s Choice and FreshnessGuaranteed, allowed us to eat the same meals without losing out on quality. With a huge variety of items to chose from, you can easily find what you're looking for with Walmart brands.

Being a stay at home mom for our twins and two month-old, getting to the grocery story isn't always easy. Having to manage two toddlers and a baby at the store stresses me out and I always end up forgetting something just to get out of there as quickly as possible. Being able to place an online order right from my phone and either have it delivered or picked up without having to unpack the kids is a LIVESAVER. This is by far the easiest way to get everything I need. We love the GreatValue brand, the pricing is always the best and they have an option for almost every food item.

The twins' favorite food is cheeseburgers and I can pick up every ingredient. On the sweet side, Walmart's FreshnessGuaranteed line has all the goodies we love like cookies, donuts, and bags of fruits. (tap the item in the picture on the left to view it on Walmart.com)

I am so glad we are able to have these more affordable options with Walmart brands and still provide our boys with healthy options for meals. I plan on meal prepping again like I did before the kiddos came along, and I think that will help cut down on cost even more. It's so easy to let our food budget get out of control, but a little planning makes all the difference. Eating out and grabbing fast-food just isn't sustainable long term for our family and we need to find ways to save wherever when can.

3 Ways to stretch you grocery budget

  1. Plan your meals out for the week and buy all the ingredients you need

  2. If you can find a frozen option, get that because it will last longer, saving you money

  3. Make big batch meals that you can separate and freeze for easy access

What ways have you been able to cut down on costs for your family?
