It's Springtime in Sunny Las Vegas and that means Easter is here. Here is a recap of what we did for our Easter Themed Week.

Tuesday: Outdoor Play and Field Trip
Wednesday: Easter Egg Hunt

Monday - Gardening
We started the week off on our outdoor patio so we could plant some seeds! I bought the little packets of seeds and purchased two small planters for the boys to plant them in.
Cruz was more of an observer for this activity and was way more interested in trying to eat the dirt, but Kai was all over it. Kai wanted to scoop the dirt, water it, and pat it down. HE LOVED IT so much and Cruz just giggled watching his brother get all messy. It was pretty warm outside (in the high 80s) and our outdoor umbrella hadn't arrived yet so this was definitely a quick activity so we could get back into the cool house. That small amount of time outside really tired them out and they took a 3 hour nap that day. Kai has been obsessed with watering the plants so I will be surprised if they ever do sprout.
Here is what we planted:
Cilantro
Basil
Parsley
Lavender
Mint
I wanted to have plants that I wouldn't be too worried about the boys eating (we all know that's going to happen). I want this outdoor space to be full of life so I want to get a few more plants and a humming bird feeder too. I did add a small pot of Pansies since I found out that they are not poisonous when consumed. I will be looking up a few more plants to make sure the boys will be safe around them and I will add them to this space. If you have any suggestions on great outdoor plants that can handle lots of sun and heat, let me know!
Tuesday - Field Trip
For our field trip this week we went to the Bellagio Hotel and Casino to check out their Botanical Gardens for Spring. The garden there is filled with tons of fresh flowers and they have beautiful water displays. It's a really fun place for little kids to check out on the strip. They also change up the garden to represent the season or holiday of that time. A few weeks back it was decked out for Lunar New Year and it was GORGEOUS.
Kai slept through the whole thing so he missed out, but Cruz loved looking at all the fountains and touching a few of the flowers. If you are ever in Las Vegas, you should check this place out and then go watch the water fountain show the Bellagio puts on in front of the Hotel. The lobby also has a large ceiling covered in glass flowers, it is soooo pretty! I will be adding some fun things to do on the Strip with kids to our adventure page soon.
Wednesday - Easter Egg Hunt
We did a little Easter Egg Hunt on our balcony and I was so surprised at how into it the boys were. They were looking everywhere for eggs and adding the ones they found to their little buckets. It was so adorable and they were giggling and making funny faces the whole time. We originally were going to go to a near by park, but this just worked out so much better.
Thursday - Books
We didn't have many books for Easter Week so I am hoping to expand our Easter book collection as the boys get older. You can find the links to these books on my Amazon Storefront
Easter Croc by Roger Priddy: A cute little story about a very grumpy crocodile that learns to ask nicely.
Happy Hoppy by R.I. Redd: I love these interactive kind of books where your kiddo has to point out things they see. They get to point out different colors, patterns, items throughout the book.
Baby's First Bible Stories by Rachel Elliot: My aunt gave this book to me for our baby shower and it's the perfect book for the holidays and life lessons. For Easter, we read the Jesus lives Again page of this book. This book also has other stories found in the Bible like: Jonah and the Whale, Noah's Arch, and Baby Moses.
Friday - Crafts
For our Easter craft this week we did sponge painting. I made some sponge stamps for the boys to stamp all over a small canvas with pastel colors. Check out the video to see how much they loved it.
This is what you need to make them:
Sponges
Cardboard rolls: Toilet Paper rolls or Paper towel rolls cut down
Hot glue and glue gun
Scissors
Permanent marker
Small Canvas
Washable Non-Toxic Paint
All you need to do is draw what you to cut out on the sponge, cut it out, and then hot glue the cardboard rolls to the back of each cut out. I then just mixed the paints to create a pastel blue, yellow, pink, and purple for them to stamp all over the canvas. I love these little trays I found at Target in the Dollar Spot for $3.00 each. They are perfect for the boys to have a place for all their paint colors and artwork.
We had a great time during Easter week and will be spending time at home on Easter Sunday enjoying the sunshine. I hope you all have a very Happy Easter!
